From your op you sound like a regular moderate-Right/Right Liberal voter. The reason the Right wing of politics are where you perceive them to be is due predominantly to personal ego and money. The reason you find the Left wholly unappealing is because the Left have taken advantage of the recent dysfunction of the Right and shifted the line of political-equilibrium to the Left and by a reasonable way because they were given the leeway to do so, and they did what's in their nature. Consequently, they are even less palatable to you now than they were when they were standing almost in an embrace with the former Prime Minister battling for control of the Centre.
I don't think President Trump caused anything, but in his own country he is certainly a manifestation of the folly of ego and money.
