I won't debate you on it Brucey. My simple understanding is that anyone who throws their had into the US political ring can and should expect a lot of banter to follow. Freedom of political speech "trumps" just about everything else in the US arena.
Similarly people (allegedly) calling each other names while wearing political statement clothing in Washington's prime political spaces [or reporting these events with a political bias] is to be expected. Minor soap box accusations between alternative groups in the park are also democratically healthy so long as everyone keeps their hands to themselves.
