If what you say is true (and it is possible....not sure if probable), then this SPP is that extremely rare, almost extinct beast: A Free Lunch. Any small time punter can buy shares at a 40% discount to the current traded price (via the SPP), but large positions (well over 15k anyway) need to be bought on market.

It does happen - does anyone remember the CEMEX takeover of RINKER in 2007? They paid (from memory) $18.50-ish per share for the company, but offered small holders $19.50 for the first 2000 shares only. And because instos weren't eligible at any signifant volume for the higher price, RIn basically taded at or close to the insto takeover price, up to the takover close. It turned out you could buy them on market for almost two weeks, at almost one dollar less than the $19.50. Everyone I know did it.....

So you never know....it's a good a punt aa any out there right now.

We should run a book with everyone's calls as to what the Share Price will be after the record date....;-)
