Cashflow is very simple - its the money which goes into and out of the bank, Some people think it's a more honest figure.
But earnings per share also has its place. It could bee seen as cahflow plus and/or minus money owed/expected but not paid/received, depreciation (writing off the value of assets), provision for future long service leave etc etc.
Sorry if I'm talking down to you here.
