Thanks for the reply. Let's take your example. Buy 150m, to sell for 330m. Lets say I do it. I record an asset of 150m that I need to accrete up to 330m by the time I sell it as when I sell it I receive cash 330m and need to relieve the asset at 330m. The accretion (call it amortisation) needs to be the balance of 180m to clear the asset account. The way I understand it, is that the accretion is the revenue and what I need to offset against that is selling and advertising expenses (collection expenses in CCP's case). The net difference is profit.
Another way of saying this is the net purchase cost never hits the P&L, only the net revenue (amortisation) and collection expenses.
Tell me what I am missing.
