yep its an opportunity that Aus was made to offer the world.... and a very lucrative opportunity too.
the recent (5 years ago) opportunity for finding a site for a storage facility was imo a half-hearted effort. I think they were looking in the wrong places - remote deserts are fine for the isolation but would be very difficult to staff. such a plant should be near a city where there already are sites that could be used. Lucas Hts, any defence land where none would claim property rights, would work and be better able to staff.
public education on the real hazards, sans alarmism, is necessary to prepare for such a site. then it could be sited where none could otherwise object.
