In response to @Frankhope, dont change your investment until the story changes. PLS sell lithium. EV sales still increasing. EVs and other li-on batteries need lithium. Global temperatures still rising - fast !. (FF industry will be forced into a small corner - a la Cigarettes). How to store energy?.
In response to @Pete2019, everything you say is true, but long holders do not like the prospect of profit driven selling pressure in your 'step 3'. Should investors all be long holders? How could you mandate this or enforce it? Can someone lend (hire out) something to another person / entity? Of course, as long as they 'give it back' someday. Shorters are unpopular, but i cant see how you could make it illegal.
Re PLS and current lith stock down trend - it has more to do with lithium prices than shorters. Shorters just anticipate what is going to happen and try to profit from it. And usually succeed.
When they sell, the selling pressure lowers the price. Just buy then. You have to have spare capital. That is the real issue.
