Yes, there is a proportion of the community that for whatever reason, cannot pull themselves out of poverty. Whether it be they came from an abusive background, have mental disorders, other disabilities, the list goes on.....
Not everybody has it as good as others. I think its wonderful we have a safety net for people doing it tough in this country and an excellent medicare system. Its tax dollars well spent. Would you have sick, desperate people on the street? Would you be the first to complain when your house is robbed because centrelink benefits were no longer paid? Would you have pensioners struggling to make ends meet? What a cruel, survival of the fittest scenario. You'd be whinging about tripping over homeless people in the street. Open your eyes to the bigger picture instead of only caring about how big your bank balance is and how much tax you pay. I feel sad for you.
