re: qantas and the dah factor.. The deal requires 90% acceptance to succeed.
The bidders model is based on taking the company private. They will not be happy to hold a majority stake in a public company. Get to 90% and they can wrap up the remaining 10% through compulsory acquisition.
There is some risk they will not get to 90% with such an iconic company and a lot of small shareholders. It is one of the factors reflected in the discount.
