I think Westfield would already be in talks about some of the assets ....maybe a JV type scenario.....as expressed by the executives of Centro today, they are in talks with several people.

Westfield would want a piece of the action.....especially the shopping centres....and will not wait until a few fire sale auctions....as they would then have to compete with all conglomerates looking for a slice.

    Westfield finished 3% up today.....hmmm

Centro have 8 weeks to get the finance sorted, wont be a problem imo.......all they have to do is put up a JV or sale proposal and the lenders will back off.........as they will be happy to collect interest while they wait knowing a major player will take them out....and may even use the same funding but on a smaller scale.

    Just my thoughts.

SP went from a low of 42c back to 80c.....
that in itself tells a story.

Some of the fund managers had to sell as Centro wont pay a dividend for q1 08, and some of the f managers cant be in on those terms, hence the hard selling again today.

Could see this stock back at $2-$3 in the coming weeks.
Centro has until Feb 15th to find the answer

Until then the SP will climb back as the rumours fly around for 2 months..........rather be in than out.....could be a nice new year present at the end of it........then again......could be duck eggs.......all in the timing I guess........just as it was when i was buying up big today.

    Oversold imo.....

    MC now of 700 million

Quite ridiculous really when u consider their equity amounts and assets.

They could sell over 50% of their assets, reduce their debt levels and still have equity of around $2 bn

    .......or over $2 share

    cheers
