I can't see how a missile attack on Pine Gap is a different question to an attack on Australia considering that PG is within Australia.
PG and the ultra low frequency antenna array in Exmouth are very critical for US & Australian submarine communications in the Indo Pacific, so China will destroy them on day one of the Taiwanese invasion. Submarines at depth can only be communicated with this ultra low frequency, and Exmouth is the only one west of Hawaii.
The point is, Australia WILL be at war when China invades Taiwan.
Australians are arguing whether or not China will want war with Australia and provide all soughts of arguments, mostly economical, why they won't. But it's a mute point. When Taiwan is attacked, so are we.
My point about a following invasion is another question, but I believe it will follow if the 7th Fleet falls.
