ALP have been disappointing unfortunately, full of promise going in and some good things delivered in NACC, labour reform & environmental issues but way too idealistic, the 'voice' structure flawed and the rate of NOM (net overseas migration) over last few years a disaster for our younger folk.
Good front benches are the 'exception' not the 'norm' for both red and blue, don't come along often probably only once in a generation or so. Both current front benches substandard in my view.
Good front benches although rare seem to attract a wide positive consensus when in government, they seem to upset the more extreme in their own party but gain a grudging respect in people that did not vote for them. People actually appreciate quality.
Best not to give either of the current mob multi term status, that is where the real damage is done as in a pollies mind 'multi terms' means 'mandate', an idealogues Viagra.
The philosophy being even substandard governance can't do too much damage in a single term, keep oscillating until we jag a good one (either red or blue) then award them a multi term period for quality reform.
