that's part of it. the other big part is the fact that AFI, as well as the other traditional LICs such as ARG, MLT, BKI, have underperformed the ASX200 index over the past 1 , 3, 5, 7, and 10 year periods ! you would have been better off using index ETF. in the past these sometimes traded at premium to NTA. but why would you pay any premium at all for fund managers that underperform the index ?
