If Teva decided that expected value of this trial doesn't meet it's return on capital hurdle, whilst MSB have a higher cost of capital, then that's exactly the same as saying that the trial is worthless.
It's not like MSB don't have uses for their dwindling cash stockpile - was it 9 months of cash they had left at burn rates before they had to fund this trial as well?
