What is eSports andwhy you may want to consider it

eSports or Electronic sports is where either single individuals or team play a game – there are many articles out there but below are some links that you might find of interest. However my own personal story would be more aligned with League of Legends or LoL for short. The eSports scene and LoL was only in its infancy and to demonstrate below is a picture of the Season 1 - 4 world finals of the game but the prize money has gone from $50,000 USD in 2011 for first place to what was in 2018 $2,418,750 USD (yes 2.4M)… However this is dwarfed by Dota The International 2018 which was $11,234,158 USD for first.

However one thing I have been amazed of is how Riot (developer of LoL) has built their eSports scene similar to traditional sports. Where players have been given a salary by the teams and would assume KPIs and bonuses for winning. This has evolved into many other games doing the same – not saying that Riot was the first one here, but I saw it evolve by watching Riot and their progress.
