Here we have an example of an article written with no thought at all
The article purports to suggest that removing negative gearing will save the government One billion dollars in claims
I wonder if investors lost the interest to invest in real estate the only industry actual keeping the economy afloat.
What the real cost would be?
This industry is interwoven across all the sectors of the economy wether it be construction, material sector, financial and insurance sector, Services and maintenance sector etc.......
I would say the cost of any moronic interference in the negative gearing would amount in multi billion dollar loses in government revenue as well as a dramatic slow down in the construction industry and the flow on affects the the rest of the economy.
Keating/Hawke discovered this when they changed the negative gearing rules only to reinstate them 2 years later.
Popularist rubbish like this exposes how little understanding moronic journalist have of the real estate and construction industry and the effects and costs of such stupidity can really cost the economy
