Could also be that they can see the cards and are conditioning the SH's for that fateful decision. Also, the more they say now, the more they'll look like fools; paying to explore something which they may or may not own, worse still, it's getting better for someone else.
Sometimes, karma turns very quickly and sometimes, karma couldn't happen to nicer people.
