2. The ITS Operating Manual requires that "All orders in suspended securities are purged." The premise behind this is to allow orders entered before a security's suspension to be removed from ITS. This prevents investors trading into securities that may experience a dramatically falling price. If there was a failure for the purging of orders to occur, a disorderly market could result. While remedy for this scenario is currently covered in ASX Business Rules, trade cancellation powers allow for a more efficient and thorough means of recourse.
