The timing of the second stage, however, may be
brought forward following the decision by CESC,
India’s third largest power utility, to undertake feasibility
studies to build a 2x660MW power station adjacent to
the Boikarabelo mine site. If this proceeds, the power
station will use approximately half of the additional
domestic grade coal from the second stage of the
mine, underpinning the mine’s expansion, increasing
export coal production and unlocking the full value
of our resources earlier than originally planned.
