    Thunderhead, to answer your questions:
    • SSM is virtually debt free and likely to be net cash when they next report. Strong balance sheets are King at present. They do not need to raise and can continue to pay a strong dividend.
    • SSM is mostly a telco and water maintenance company, plus nbn activations service provider (which has still a long way to go). it no longer has nbn build revenue. As nbn has more connections, maintenance increases. There is unlikely to be any fall in nbn revenues and that is the opportunity at SSM, as most think revenue is bound to fall (not to mention 5G deployment).
    • Alan Kohler recently mentioned 160 of the ASX200 have given trading updates (actually mostly down dates). SSM has not. Companies have to inform the market if guidance or consensus is not achievable. SSM does not provide guidance, hence consensus estimates are probably still okay.
It must be one of the best buys in the market at current prices. Only a select few companies are likely to hit consensus forecasts at the FY20 result season.
Two things are certain, telecommunications infrastructure (mobile and nbn) are critical assets and stand to be maintained through the lockdown period and improved on the other side as working from home becomes more popular.
