There is NO reason what so ever that this news couldn't be kept to be announced tomorrow prior to trade or put the stock in halt this afternoon, announce then release tomorrow.
If the management doesnt like trading halts, that should really apply across the board, in particular that the research has failed to generate any real results and a lot of people have lost a lot of money.
During all those points we had several days of halt.
Given the recent history of how things have panned out, a simple few hours of TH was warranted.
You cant blame people for putting in a sell order to reduce their risk on a stock that has been treading water. I dont come on here to fall in love with stocks, if you do you need to visit a dating website and stop trading.
