Doing it this way is a smart decision in my opinion. They needed a quick cash injection to assist getting the deal away. A retail SPP takes time and would be hanging over the stock for the next month.
Not a huge raise or discount.
I'd rather they get it done quickly and watch the price run on the back of a great deal.
