    that's just being silly and allowing
    personal political prejudice to cloud
    ones' judgement...

    keatings' contribution to public life
    has been well documented and took place
    over several decades and continues to this
    day... one doesn't have to be a labor
    supporter to recognise a talented operator..

    his '80s reforms of the economic and financial
    underpinnings of our economy set the stage for
    our recent prosperity and his shepherding of
    superannuation has enormous implications for
    individual prosperity in retirement as well as
    being of enormous importance to the operation of
    financial markets today..

    his failing, in conservative eyes, is that he doesn't
    tend to pander to establishment mores and the
    hypocrisy of the middle-class wannabes who see
    conservative political alliances as a badge of
    honour for what they think of as economic
    rationalism but is really just good old
    fashioned selfishness and greed...
