sabre: there's not enough money to, as you say, "pay a pension". The govt (of all colours) have drammatically incresaed social welfare spend to buy votes. By getting most of us to provide for our own retirement there's tax revenue left over for the improtant job of buying votes so pollies can ensure their golden retirement payouts. Sigh...
