I'd be careful when comparing government action to stop short selling pressure in a systemic event to an idiosyncratic stock. These two are miles apart, one has to do with overall market confidence, the other has to do with a single stock being found overvalued. So the argument of the government banning it in one scenario meaning it should be illegal in the other seems rather thin. Anyway, like you I'm not looking to get involved in a round-about argument. Happy to agree to disagree.
