    As per the rule

    3. A fair catch
A catch shall be considered to have been fairly made if
    (a) throughout the act of making the catch
    (i) any fielder in contact with the ball is within the field of play. See 4 below.
(ii) the ball is at no time in contact with any object grounded beyond the boundary.

The act of making the catch shall start from the time when a fielder first handles the ball and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control both over the ball and over his own movement.....

Ponting did lost control over his own movement and to save himself falling he had to take support of his hand (right hand in which he had the ball) and in the process touched ball on the ground. Therefore Ponting is 100% wrong to claim the catch.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing here in this says it was not a catch. He may have lost control of his movement but at no stage did the ball leave (no juggling)his hand therefore it is a catch. Better go back to your rule book all you have tallked about is th fielder in relation to the boundary line
