    Serious question.

What is it about renewables that causes conservatives apoplexy at the prospect of government subsidies?

Conservatives are happy for private and catholic schools to be subsidised, medical care to be subsidised, the middle class to be subsidised, aged care and disability sufferers to be subsidised, public transport to be subsidised, superannuation and wealth creation to be subsidised, owning multiple properties funded by negative gearing subsidies is ok too ... the list goes on ... hell, they are even keen to subsidise coal mines, as in at least Adani’s Carmichael Coal mine in northern Queensland.

All the above examples are examples of market intervention by government.

So, why the problem with subsidising renewables as a market intervention to transition to cleaner renewables future?

Are conservatives being discriminatory “subsidists” ?
