    The economic benefit for the country is probably 10 yrs down the track when renewables have greater market penetration ... already new build renewables is cheaper than new build coal ... a diminishing subsidy to transform and de-risk?

    Governments do that all the time ... toll roads, Western Sydney Airport, metro rail lines ... if they didn’t, a lot of critical infrastructure wouldn’t get built.

    What is the exact business case for the various subsidies listed in the op and what is different about subsidising the development of renewables (and pumped hydro storage)?
