Yes that is a nice story, however the fact is that Coles at the time when Fletcher took was a struggling company losing market share. By all measures, its stores (like the returns it was generating for shareholders) were shocking.

JB Hifi, on the other hand, when Terry Smart took over was (and still is) a category killer, a cash generating machine, its ROE is 45%+. It is still only 1/2 way through its store expansion. It is a well oiled machine, just rinse and repeat, open up new stores...

    As Warren Buffet says:

I like buying companies that can be run by monkeys - because one day they will be.

    Amen to that.

I could run JB Hifi, and I definately have no sales experience.

Now, maybe a better gauge of how JBH is going, is to check out what real people and real customers are saying on Twitter, every minute and every day. Just do a search for "JB Hifi" on Twitter.com.

Here is a sample for those who can't be bothered to search:

...."OMG, I just spent all my money at JB Hifi again. I hate you JB!

"Just got paid....going to JB Hifi.."

...Found the best deal at JB Hifi again.."

JB HiFi? Best retail operation in the country by a mile, with a hard-nut passionate following from its customers. Nothing lasts for ever, but for now, I will back the business rather than the man.
