Anyone that says otherwise is deluding themselves.
The final nail in the coffin, was Covid imho.
People woke up to the lies, Government manipulation and hubris of the talking heads, on TV in particular. And what makes it so much worse, is that there has been next to no reflection, by media bosses, on what went wrong. The one local platform that could have pushed back and asked the tough questions, on behalf of Aussies, just capitulated and became an unthinking arm of the Jackboot wearing tyrants in Government.
Now, its just business as usual, with a dose of pie-in-the-sky 'digital transformation' thrown in for good measure, at shareholder meetings.
If you aren't going to have a local media that stands up to Government and asks the tough questions, while at the same time serving up content and treating you as if you only have two brain cells, WTH would anyone want to watch/listen to it?
Better to watch/listen to a streaming service from overseas!
