Called and spoke to one of the sales assistants at the North West Store (NZ). Asked about how come they're advertising for a store manager (she wasn't aware there was going to be a new store manager - her actual manager was off on lunch so she said I could call back in 20). I take this as a good sign, suspect a new opening and they're going to be moving the existing manager across (might call back in 30 mins to confirm). I asked about the sales, she said quite now but was busy over xmas and that they sold all their christmas stuff - apparently the christmas crackers and wine glasses sold really well.
As a comparison I also called the woden store - (it's also advertising an assistant manager role - filled apparently). I grew up in the ACT so know the location, sales lady there said quite now but was busy over christmas - I asked and she was working the prior one and she said that was probably busier, but she thinks because they came out of lockdowns etc (Canberra had a pretty bad lockdown).
So all in all I would say positive anecdata
