Opaline, substantiate please with something very recent, because I think the paradigm has peaked and your figure of 90% may have been from several years ago, indeed, if at all.
The majority clearly do NOT want a carbon tax. I guess that's why Gillard and Swan had to frantically portray a message of "no carbon tax" so they didn't lose too many votes.
Here's an article discussing a professional poll on carbon tax taken on the 3rd of april this year - here's the last paragraph (bold is mine):
"With 60 per cent of those surveyed opposed to the tax, and a third of Labor supporters saying they will be worse off, she is taking a big gamble if she commits taxpayers' money to an expensive propaganda campaign. "
