MBE is used for research or when cost is not an issue. RPCVD is a volume manufacturing method like MOCVD. RPCVD will enable commercialisation of high efficiency GAN lasers and also longer wavelengths (green). DFB GAN lasers need PA-MBE or RPCVD. RPCVD is the only path to commercial DFB. That is why Nakamura is excited. He has already tweaked MOCVD to get commercial Blue LED/Lasers.
