Dunnycan-Re our simple lifestyle compared to our forefathers. Yes we have technology, laptops, ipods etc. But if the kill switch on the electricity grid went off, we'd have absolutely no idea what to do, unlike our forefathers who would have alot of skills and know how to survive. So I'd say their lives we're richer, involving better interpersonal skills and definitely much better skills at living. Think about it, no petrol pumps, people would be wandering the streets like zombies. We have no skills anymore really, can you knock up a laptop, or a plasma tv. They built things, they had skills, look at the furniture and buildings for a start. We have no idea!! And gold then was just a store of wealth, as it is now, always has been and always will be. To be honest I can't see how our technology filled lifestyle makes any difference to the value of gold. At the end of the day, if you had some, you'd value it alot, as you know what you can exchange it for, no matter what age you live in.
