Well no, all the automated systems have the ability to detect 'no growth' it's probably the least amazing thing about the technology. Whether a lab decides to release a 'no growth' result on the systems interpretation would be up to them and their confidence in the system. The spekky thing about APAS is it's ability to give a preliminary ID.
As for the 'no growth' capability of other systems:
It seems BD recently gave a little sneak peek at an ESCMID conference, BD Optis imaging software.. The ability to accurately sort 'significant growth' from 'no significant growth'. Sounds very familiar
