McDonald's to end some antibiotic use in meat
Thursday June 19, 11:30 am ET
CHICAGO, June 19 (Reuters) - McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD - News), the world's largest restaurant chain, on Thursday announced plans that call for its suppliers worldwide to phase out the use of animal growth-promoting antibiotics that are used in human medicine.
The global policy on antibiotics also creates a set of standards for McDonald's direct meat suppliers and encourages indirect suppliers to take similar steps to eliminate growth-promoting antibiotics and to reduce other antibiotic usage.
