OK, I'm stumped why the price surged today. Yes, MML is undervalued, so it should rise (although getting close to consensus and EV/EBITDA is higher than some other gold stocks).
Maybe one or more the the following explanations for the surge.
1. MML is about to announce good news that leaked out
-- least likely, but possible. We'll find out soon if so.
2. A major analyst advised key clients that now is the time to buy MML
-- no advice I could find, but analyst advice to key clients doesn't make headlines. Still, low probability because good analysts would have recommended MML a couple of months ago when the price was below $5, not this week!
3. Technical or momentum effect
-- maybe some people picked up on today's early volume and share rise and jumped on the rocket. Nothing special I can see in the recent share price trend, but my technical stock analysis skills are woeful.
