I do not see the end point to your argument. Parents seemingly have no choice if both parents want to work to put their children into childcare. Australian cities seem to have centers with waiting lists and it is difficult to get that so the only problematic driver is female participation and females in the workforce. Discrimination against males in double income with children families and immigration curbs may also have a negative impact on GEM as the Turnbull Government, it appears true, is heavily biased towards outcomes that are not necessarily supportive of the family unit. That inversely impacts GEM.
There seems to be no shortage of reverse discrimination towards women in Australian workplaces so it does not seem like the double income family with children is going to see a lack of demand: only issue might be if males find it too difficult due to this reverse gender discrimination in Australia and they become househusbands without the need for GEM and/ or the childcare center.
Also, you could have an impact if only non-family oriented males and females got work and there was underemployment of males or females with children. The LNP Turnbull Government does appear to be very poor on pro-family policies, in fact it seems somewhat anti-family since Turnbull took over and the cross-bench started wielding muscle.
Australia does seem anti-family from a policy perspective, they may have a negative impact on GEM and other childcare providers.
