Primary reason for the Nickel price drop is a company has said they will be processing pig iron into battery grade Nickel sulphate. An ESG nightmare for any major economy outside of China which makes up ~20% of the market.

Elon musk also mentioning their use of an iron cathode in their standard range cars (LiFePO4). Have some significant performanace compromises compared to Li-ion (LiCoO2) that are worth familiarising yourself with.
