We can agree the shorts are a problem. For example, yesterday's -10% shakedown - lots of algo churning and clearly the shorts were at play.
I think it is no coincidence that the WC8 shorts tripled after MIN sold its 13% stake in AZS. The AZS share price held up because of the TO offer, but one would have expected it to drop on that news. The shorts were/are punting MIN will also sell their 19% stake in WC8.
The MoM podcast talks about the effect of MIN exiting DVP and speculates on CE's motives including a possible acquisition.
What could it mean for WC8, AIMO.
1. If he intends to also sell WC8 to tidy up the MIN balance sheet, no doubt some short term pain but nothing changes for the resource long term.
2. But why sell WC8 at mid fifties when he bought at mid eighties. If this is his game one might expect him to await some recovery.
3. If the $300m from AZS and DVP is for an acquisition, bring on the speculation. Could it be us?
