Proxy firms - the dark underbelly of institutional advisory. Advisory to superannuation funds and big institutional investors. Supposedly independent but can be composed of the institutions that they advise to. Frydenberg had a go at regulating them in 2021, not sure where that ended up.
Proxy firms don't take paid advice from companies as that would defeat their independence, and value to institutions. They are there to serve their member institutions.
