The West seems to have forgotten that the UN sat on it's hands while weapons of mass destruction were used against Iran in the 1980's. The Iranian nuclear program started soon afternoons. The only way Iran can guarantee it is never again the victim of such weapons is to the have the capacity to build nuclear weapons. It will not give up this capacity. The current economic hardship being experienced due to the sanctions is nothing compared to the suffering during the Iraq/Iran war. The Iranian leadership have not forgotten what happened and probably still harbour resentment at the lack of UN action.
Regarding the outlook for UCL, it seems likely that the nuclear enrichment issue will be resolved in the next six months, paving the way for foreign investment in zinc mining. I'm looking at getting back into UCL as soon as I have some spare cash.
