And this year the ice extent dropped to 35% below the average minimum ice extent over the period from 1979 to 2000. And it's been dropping fast since the early 1970s. Must be getting hotter up there.
By any measure - volume, extent and area of ice - the sea ice in the Arctic is disappearing very quickly.
