Yesterday, 2 Jan 2018, it looks like someone dumped 189,696 BSA shares into the market in the space of three minutes.
Predictably, on the first trading day of the year, when many of the adults are still away on holidays, the market for BSA was not instantly responsive. Consequently, the selling took out all the bids from $0.37 down to $0.34. See the course of sales further below.
However, when I saw it about 15 minutes latter,. there were already bids for substantial numbers of shares at $0.35 & $0.355.
If the seller had shown even a modicum of patience, they probably could have gotten another cent or more for the shares that they sold at $0.34.
Why would they do that? They didn't give any potential bidders for the stock any time to respond.
It reminds me of the old jibe about economists. An economist is someone who thinks that, just because the plane they are on is about to crash, a parachute salesman will instantly materialize in front of them to meet their demand.
The stock finished the day with a bid for 60,000 shares at $0.35 and a bid for 20,000 at $0.355.
But there were no more trades after 2:15pm, so it closed at $0.34, which was a black eye to my portfolio for the day.
The bids are still there today, with no sign of the man or woman who was in a hurry yesterday. Normal service has been resumed.
It looks like, either the seller needed the cash in a hurry, or they didn't know what they were doing or didn't care.
Anyway, it would have pleased whoever had the underbids bids in at $0.34. They got lucky, although who knows how low the seller was prepared to go?
Very strange
Cheers
