I think this is the prudent strategy for the moment, as I said I can see a usd bounce which may hurt gold but I can also see another worst case scenario where we start to see bank runs in the US along with a crashing stockmarket, gold would then effectively be a worst case money of choice as people moved their cash out of the bank into physical/etf's as it would be about the only thing that is not failing, I am unsure as to what the gold stocks would do in this scenario but I would think that physical would outperform them easily.
