    KIM is a more likely takeover target than RIO, but RIO is possibly a target, particularly for private equity.

    Regarding Gilchrist, it is possible he was recruited with the aim of courting bidders, particularly given his post retirement recruitment (ie: he wouldn't want a long tenure so he's an ideal transitional CEO).
