I know a lot of people in mainland China. I'm told by friends in Beijing that people there are not buying imported frozen seafood as the government has everyone convinced that frozen product from abroad potentially contains Covid. I presume the Tassal salmon is shipped frozen rather than fresh. It is politically advantageous in China to blame foreigners for any virus outbreaks. With a lack of demand, an official or unofficial ban of Australian seafood would be unnecessary.

If most of the 20% of exported Tassal salmon is/was going to China, maybe the shorters feel there is a profit downgrade imminent. However, given the low P/E ratio surely all the bad news (and then some) is already factored into the current share price.

People have to eat; and TGR is a solid company with excellent growth prospects. I'll be re-investing the March dividend and if the price drops 10-15% I'll be buying a few more shares to average-down and increase my dividend payments.
