Probably some tax loss selling coming through now too ... if there are any predators out there they would be wise to pounce while the sector's confidence has taken a bruising. 2010 will see confidence return on the back of battered grain production in 2009. Whilst credit remains a concern it is now becoming clear that where grain production is being hit hardest (eg Sth America, Eastern Europe) that governments are prepared to intervene to ensure farmers produce. Brazil's government has announced it will increase financing to the agriculture sector by more than a third for the 2009/10 crop year in a bid to stimulate production, the Agriculture Ministry said on Sunday. The government will make 107.5 billion reais ($54.5 bln) available to the sector for the 2009/10 harvest, higher than the 100 billion reais expected by market
analysts and a 37 percent increase from last year.
