I think a lot of people today vote for the person not the party that person represents as this seems to distance them from party politics.
For me you must look at what party has your values and vote for that person, as the party runs your values not the individual.
My father in law when he was alive was a staunch labour man and he tried hard in my younger days to get me to vote labour. I asked him why he voted labour in the later years and he said his father was a labour man so I will am ALP too.
The mind set of of some people is unbelievable. He had 6 children all had been indoctrinated by him to vote ALP.
All had worked for other people and not long after getting married I was in business for my self and was buying rural property as well.
My wife soon realised that ALp did not match her values in life anymore and was sick of paying for everyone elses lifestyle and never voted ALP any more.
She could never understand how her father was so narrow minded and the funny thing is he was a dairy farmer at the time.
I wound not vote ALP as they have no private sector motivation plans to boost the state.
Boosting public service jobs is a step backwards as this does not create long term benefits for QLD
