I see your point acorn but doesn't super distort the market as well, $billions and $billion being invested into good, not so good and bad investments. In some cases you have fund managers effectively gambling with other peoples money.
No doubt it is harder to save a decent deposit and afford a home but yes it is quite doable, fact is there are many areas where mortgage repayments are less than renting.
Access to super for a deposit could make getting into a home quicker, could help the building industry too
